I dropped down to the very heart of La Paz
It's been a few months since the inauguration of the Mi Teleférico red line and a few less with the yellow line. Much was said about it about its safety, speed, cheap prices, rechargeable cards and the unique postcards that the city offers to passengers. Now it's time to show a little of what was said and seen in all this time, so let's get started.
The red line begins at the former train station, a historic place in the city for both celebrations when the trains arrive for the first time in the city and others not as good as the farewell of the new soldiers to the Chaco. There is an intermediate stop behind the cemetery where you can see the different markets that La Paz has in its streets, the corridors and monuments in the general cemetery, the downtown buildings and the snow-capped mountains that take care of the hoyada at all hours.
As the cabin moves away from the station you begin to see the real neighborhoods (colorful areas with gardens with flowers and a lot of grass, bleachers that seem to have no end and soccer fields scattered throughout the panorama) less and less streets, passing zigzagging paths until reaching bleachers and corridors that go from left to right. Little by little they come to the slopes that support the entire plateau on their backs, inaccessible places although with their little stories like the car that got stuck from the old road to El Alto and fell with such luck that it stayed in one of the hollows of this slope, saving all the occupants. It is now that the highway can be seen at the foot, the hoyada and its sentries in front and the El Alto station approaching quickly. And so it only took 10 minutes to.
In addition to taking many photos or a video of the tour, there are people who sell souvenirs at the La Paz and El Alto stations. You can also buy rechargeable "zero contact" cards that have a special entrance lane at all stops for Bs. 30 (4.30 USD) with Bs. 15 (2.15 USD) credit, which in addition to allowing you to pay for the tour can be a souvenir perfect of this experience; or a ticket for a single trip at Bs. 3 (0.43 USD).
