A unique adventure in Lomas de Arena Park

 The Lomas de Arena Regional Park is located 12 km southeast of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. To get to the Lomas de Arena you can take Av. Santos Dumont in the direction of Plan 4,000, follow the path that ends in the hills and walk a few kilometers to the dunes. You can also use public transport since bus 21 reaches this site. Upon entering, a fee of Bs 10 (1.5 USD) is paid.

It covers an area of ​​more than 13,000 ha, of which 3,000 ha are sand distributed between dunes, savanna, hills and a main lagoon. It is recommended to visit on a sunny day with little wind, bring plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen and glasses. In the place there is a lot of wild fauna among which are badgers, foxes, monkeys, turtles, parabas, bats and many others.

Among the activities that can be carried out in the Lomas de Arena are:

  • Eco-trail: it runs through 5 km of sands and dunes that can be done on horseback or by carriage.
  • Archaeological zone: in the place there are remains of the Chané culture that show how this pre-Hispanic culture lived.
  • Beach and lake: on the shores you can sunbathe, lie down, play with the sand and cool off on hot days.
  • Windsurfing: At the entrance of the park or through a tourism agency you can hire an excursion that includes windsurfing in the dunes.

We arrive to Copacabana

 The Copacabana sanctuary is located 154 km from the city of La Paz. There are different ways to get to this place by public transport. The first is from the La Paz bus terminal, where buses from the companies Manco Kapac and Diana Tours leave at 7 in the morning.
